The
Big Buzz is back!
It's
big, it buzzes and it's better than ever!

Radio Wales' and Cardiff County Council's free non-stop energy fix,
The Big Buzz @ the Cardiff Festival, will be back to get the summer
sizzling.
With
this year's sundowner event happening on 28 July, The Big Buzz @
the Cardiff Festival promises the biggest bands, the hottest acts
and the wildest sounds, including headliners Hear'Say who will be
arriving in Cardiff Bay by helicopter to get the party into full
swing.
"It's
a real bonus having Hear'Say performing this year, especially with
Noel being from Cardiff. Even more special is that Noel is performing
on his birthday. It's going to be a fun afternoon of great live
music for all the family to enjoy," says Radio Wales and Big
Buzz presenter Kevin Hughes.
And
Noel agrees: "It's always nice to play on home ground. We always
have great support in Cardiff."
In
addition, there will be an opportunity to hear the winners of 大象传媒
Wales' Battle of the Bands competition, Free Peace Sweet.
The
five-piece commercial rock pop group, who battled it out in a long
day of auditions, are planning on wowing the crowds with their energy
and originality.
Hosted
by Radio Wales DJs including Kevin Hughes, Alan Thompson, Lisa Matthews
and John Lenney, the event gets underway from 2.00pm, and is broadcast
live on Radio Wales from 2.30pm.
Organisers
say The Big Buzz @ the Cardiff Festival will have more fun and games
beginning with B than you can shake a stick at - breakdancing, boulder-climbing,
billboard painting, busking, a bliss out zone and a break out tent
for bopping and bouncing around to name but a few.
Talking
of bopping, you'll also have the chance to funk it up in the smallest
nightclub in the world, Miniscule of Sound: the nightclub with the
world's smallest dancefloor and longest guest list.
Playing
to packed groups of 10 or less, Miniscule's experienced disc jockeys
can lift the spirits and tweak the memories of any crowd.
Measuring
just eight foot by four foot, this cosy disco features sparkly d茅cor,
flashing lights and an all together amazing atmosphere.
Thanks
to Radio Wales' partnership with Community Music Wales, this year
will also see the first ever Big Buzz Band - a specially-formed
combo who'll be taking the main stage for their premier performance.
Later
into the night, Alan Thompson shifts the action into the Glee Club
from 10.00pm for a late night magical mystery chat with a secret
chart-topping guest.
You'll
need tickets for this one, and more information is available by
ringing 08700 100130.
"The
Big Buzz @ the Cardiff Festival has been a phenomenal success over
the past two years, and this year is set to be bigger and better
than ever before," says explains event producer and co-ordinator
Alison Quinn.
"It's
about entertaining people, and getting them involved in what's going
on too - we're working with local people and community organisations
to stage this ambitious, free event."
Councillor
Marion Drake, County Council Cabinet member (Culture, Sport &
Enterprise), says: "I
am sure that it will be one of the most popular occasions of the
40 cool days and 40 hot nights that make up the Cardiff Festival
2002."
