plunge into the next big battle when the Premiership starts on 17
August.
The
contest is wide open since Manchester United got knocked off their
pedestal by Arsenal last season.
Fans
can expect another white knuckle ride for their emotions as the
20 teams line up for the season ahead.
With
a reporter at every Premiership match, only Radio Five Live can
bring fans all the twists, turns and winning goals.
The
network brought fans 142 full, live Premiership commentaries last
season among its total of 332 broadcast matches on Five Live.

know 909 & 693AM is the home of unmissable soccer action.
Five
Live's expert team includes the award-winning Alan Green, football
correspondent Mike Ingham, new recruit Jonathan Pearce, John Motson,
Simon Brotherton, Ron Jones, Ian Brown, John Murray, Dave Woods
and all the usual suspects.
Sport
on Five on weekday evenings and at weekends will be presented by
Ian Payne (Monday to Friday), Mark Pougatch (Saturdays) and Mark
Saggers (Sundays), bringing listeners all the action, results, interviews,
and behind the scenes news.
As
well as the live football, there will of course be 606, the fans'
favourite phone-in, on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday evenings,
giving the football faithful their say on the day's action.
A
raft of football-orientated programmes will keep the game top of
the agenda throughout the week.
Sport
on Five starts at 7.00pm midweek evenings, and at midday on weekends.
606
starts at 6.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10.00pm on Wednesdays.
Additional
Saturday morning programming starts at 11.00am.
The
Radio Five Live team
Alan
Green is one of 大象传媒 Radio Five Live's most senior football commentators,
and winner of a Sony Radio Academy Award for Sports Broadcaster
Of The Year.
He
estimates that he sees between 100 and 120 matches a season. Alan
has won the admiration of fans for his honest assessments of games
and players' performances, and fans of his inimitable style will
be keen to hear his opinions.
Mike
Ingham, 大象传媒 Radio's football correspondent, took up his post
when the legendary Bryon Butler retired 10 years ago.
He
has been commentating on football for the 大象传媒 since 1984, and with
Alan Green makes up Radio Five Live's senior commentary team.
Authoritative
and professional, his experience of football commentating is a must
for listeners.
Jonathan
Pearce's broadcasting career started at 大象传媒 Radio Bristol in
1979.
His
dream of becoming a professional footballer was shattered at the
age of 15 when he broke his leg.
In
1987 he moved to London and Capital Radio and helped launch Capital
Gold Sport a year later.
He
kicked off his Radio Five Live career with the World Cup. He is
a keen Bristol City FC fan.
John
Motson has been a front line commentator with 大象传媒 Television
for over 25 years.
Starting
out as a sports journalist in the print press, he joined the 大象传媒
and became known as a presenter of sports programmes as well as
a commentator on football, tennis and boxing.
He
was taken on as a junior member of the Match of the Day team in
1971, and his contributions to Match of the Day, Grandstand and
Sportsnight have been regular and varied in the 30 years since.
John
has covered over 1,500 matches at the microphone for the 大象传媒.
Terry
Butcher, a Five Live regular, is an ex-England and Rangers defender
who is currently Assistant Manager at Motherwell FC.
He
was previously in charge of Sunderland and Coventry City football
clubs, and enjoyed a coaching role with Dundee United.
Ian
Payne presents Sport on Five (weekdays, 7.00-10.00pm).
Having
joined 大象传媒 Radio Sport in 1988, Ian took over the helm of Saturday
Sport on Five in 1994, soon after Radio Five Live was launched in
1994.
He
went on to present Ian Payne on weekday afternoons before moving
to his current evening show.
His
radio career started in 1986 at 大象传媒 Radio Lancashire. Ian is a keen
Leeds United fan.
Mark
Pougatch presents Five Live's Sport on Five every Saturday throughout
the football season, ensuring listeners get all the sporting results
as they happen.
He
is also a regular golf voice on the network, having covered the
last few Opens, as well as the Ryder Cup and the US Open.
Before
presenting Sport on Five, Mark was a football reporter.
As
presenter of Radio Five Live's Sunday edition of Sport on Five,
Mark Saggers has become a regular voice for listeners tuning
in to hear about the weekend's sport.
Mark's
broadcasting career has encompassed local and national 大象传媒 Radio,
as well as a spell at Sky News.
Ron
Jones is one of 大象传媒 Radio Five Live's main sports commentators.
He
has been with the 大象传媒 since 1984, and with Radio Five Live since
it launched in 1994.
His
career includes a spell coaching football and cricket in Jamaica,
coaching and PE instruction, lecturing and full time broadcasting.
His
best commentating moment was the gold medal winning performance
of the GB Hockey team at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
Ron
has worked on five World Cups, four Olympic Games, and five Open
Championships - his mainstays now are Premiership football and golf.
