Fame Academy - summary of rules for students

The Fame Academy is a centre of excellence for 12 students carefully selected from around the United Kingdom for their highly promising musical talent.

The Academy is run by the Head Teacher and four teaching staff, including a personal tutor.

During their time at the Academy, students are required to follow a set of rules.

If they break the rules, the head has the discretion to impose disciplinary measures including, in extreme cases, expulsion.

The rules include:

Morning wake-up at 6.30am, lights out at 11.00pm.

Weekly grading of each student. Each week, one student who has shown outstanding performance or progress will receive an A grade from the teachers. The three students who have done least well will be put on probation and must sing for survival. At the end of the week, one student will be saved by public vote and another will be saved by fellow students. The remaining student will be expelled from the Academy.

Students will be allowed one phone call a week, the duration of the call to be decided by the Academy.

A laundry service will be provided. Students must ensure that each item of clothing, including underwear, must be clearly labelled with their names.

Students are expected to show respect at all times to the head, the teachers and visitors to the Academy, including celebrity performers conducting masterclasses.

The Personal Tutor is available to students as their guardian, friend and counsellor. His door is open at all times. The tutor does not take part in the weekly grading decisions.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the Academy building. If the head deems it to be in the interest of a student's health and quality of performance, they may be asked to stop smoking.

At the discretion of the head, small quantities of alcohol may be made available to students with their evening meal or on special occasions.
