Great
Britons: over 170,000 vote in the first 48 hours
Early
leaders Churchill and Diana have been overtaken in 大象传媒 TWO's Great
Britons poll following last night's impassioned appeal for Brunel
from Jeremy Clarkson.
Over
170,000 have voted since the poll began on Sunday 20 October and
competition is intense with the ten contenders jockeying for position.
Clarkson's programme had an extraordinary effect with Brunel jumping
from fifth place into the lead, pushing Churchill into second position.
Diana, another early leader, particularly popular with women voters,
is now in fourth place.
Brunel
is most popular in Wales and, nationally, with the over 55s: 40%
of Welsh voters have voted for him and 46% of the over 55s.
A third of women voters currently have their vote with Brunel, but
only 1% of them have gone for military leader Nelson.
The
results on Wednesday morning are as follows:
1
- Brunel
2 - Churchill
3 - Darwin
4 - Diana
5 - Shakespeare
6 - Newton
7 - Elizabeth I
8 - Lennon
9 - Cromwell
10 - Nelson
Darwin,
currently in third position, is well placed with Andrew Marr's call
to arms for him this Friday on 大象传媒 TWO at 9.00pm.
