Archer - The Truth

"This
story is based on real events, only the facts have been changed."
听
For
years the facts have been concealed for reasons of state security
and to protect the innocent, but now the shocking truth can be told.
Jeffrey
Archer, athlete, statesman and man of letters, takes viewers on
a roller-coaster ride through his unbelievable life story.
听
With
characteristic modesty, Archer charts his stratospheric rise to
fame and fortune, revealing details of his friendships with the
great and the good and exposing the malign forces who sought to
destroy him.
This
is a story of intrigue, conspiracy, heroism and romance - and a
good deal of it true.
Damian
Lewis (Band of Brothers, The Forsyte Saga) stars as Jeffrey Archer
in this irreverent comedy by Guy Jenkin (Drop the Dead Donkey) alongside
Greta Scacchi (Heat And Dust) playing Mrs Thatcher.
Thatcher
does a striptease in a steamy effort to seduce the former Tory deputy
chairman, and Archer is later seen cavorting with her on satin sheets
- revealing her hip etched with a heart tattoo and the initials
JA.
Jeffrey
Archer - The Truth also stars Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Richard
Griffiths, Emily Mortimer and Richard Wilson.
Writer
and director Guy Jenkin describes the film as "an alternative
history of modern Britain, which owes more to Naked Gun than to
Jonathan Swift."
Jenkin
goes onto reveal that his portrait of Archer may well augment the
nation's knowledge of and fascination with the dynamic politician.
He
says: "My
Jeffrey Archer is the man who has frequently saved Britain over
the last 30 years. He's beloved of all women he comes across, all
men, all dogs - he's a superhero."
Damian
Lewis says: "Jeffrey Archer - The Truth is a delusional retrospective
of the fantasies of a man remembering himself very differently from
the way it was. It's an affectionate portrait.
"The
whole piece is premised on the joke that you suspect Jeffrey Archer
is not the humble victim of circumstance that he's portrayed here."
In
preparation for his demanding role, Damian Lewis immersed himself
in the noble pursuits of the great man - "I'm learning how
to hurdle, I'm learning how to dance, I'm learning how to make love.
Because, as we all know, these are things that Jeffrey does amazingly."
Jeffrey
Archer - The Truth is produced by Hat Trick, one of the UK's premier
production companies.
Producer
Chrissy Skinns' credits include the hard-hitting series Psychos
(1999).
The
executive producers are Mark Redhead (Hat Trick), best known for
his controversial and critically acclaimed dramas such as Bloody
Sunday and The Murder of Stephen Lawrence, and Sally Woodward Gentle
(大象传媒).
