Brian
Morton to leave Radio Scotland
Presenter Brian Morton, who fronts Radio Scotland's nightly arts
programme, The Brian Morton Show, is to leave the station.
Morton,
whose programme has received general acknowledgement over the last
few years for its commitment to the arts and wider cultural issues
in Scotland, has cited personal dissatisfaction and health problems
as reasons for his departure.
"It's
a very sad situation but I have no option but to go," he said.
Maggie
Cunningham, Head of Radio Scotland, said:
"Brian
is an excellent broadcaster whose listening figures have gone up
in line with those of the station as a whole, which is a credit
to Brian and his production team.
"It
is with regret that we have decided to accept his resignation. We
wish him well and we hope it may be possible for him to work on
other Radio Scotland projects in the future."
Morton,
who intends to return to full-time writing and other pursuits, will
continue to front The Brian Morton Show until a mutually accepted
departure date.
