which has doubled the September 2002 figure.
Controller
of 大象传媒 FOUR Roly Keating says: "These RTS nominations prove
that digital television can stand for real quality. They're a tribute
to the quality of talent we've been lucky enough to attract to the
channel in its first year.
"It's
also great to see our viewer base steadily expanding - for a channel
with 大象传媒 FOUR's unique remit to have now reached nearly half of
all digital viewers is a particularly satisfying achievement."
大象传媒
Director of Television Jana Bennett says: "Since its launch
a year ago, 大象传媒 FOUR has been a stunning creative and broadcasting
success, bringing viewers distinguished documentaries, world class
international news and a rich array of programmes on the performing
arts.

National
Trust
Eighteen
months in the making, this major documentary series about the National
Trust follows all aspects of the Trust's behind the scenes activities
and is the first time the Trust has let the cameras in to its hundred
year history.
National
Trust activities filmed range from the restoring of John Lennon's
bedroom and handling the nudists of Studland beach to spending 拢25
million of public money to save Britain's last Gothic estate - Tyntesfield
- from Kylie's clutches, and the internal upheaval of the Trust's
Organisational Review.
Premiering
on 大象传媒 FOUR, the series is being made by Oxford Film & Television
for 大象传媒 FOUR and 大象传媒 TWO.
Black
Footballers
Black
Footballers, a major new documentary for 大象传媒 FOUR, reveals a remarkable,
untold history, not just about football, but about British society
as a whole.
From
the story of the very earliest black players during the reign of
Queen Victoria to the black footballers on million pound contracts
today, the programme tells the incredible history of the footballers
themselves and their battle for recognition against extraordinary
odds.
The
Shortest Night
As
part of its commitment to celebrating the best in world cinema,
大象传媒 FOUR is devoting an entire night to short films in Summer 2003.

Night will be a spectacular eight hour, non stop festival of the

British
Museum: The World In A Box
In
June 2003, the British Museum celebrates its 250th anniversary.
Today,
it's an international institution but it all started with Sir Hans
Sloane's amazing cabinet of curiosities.
The
World in a Box charts the phenomenal cult of collecting that swept
England in the 17th and 18th century.
Of
the hundreds of cabinets that once existed, only a handful survived
to become the first museums.
But
it appears that in the 21st century, the cabinet may be enjoying
a new lease of life.

University production.
Gauguin:
The Full Story
100
years since his death, Waldemar Januszczak presents the fullest
ever television biography of Paul Gauguin.
The
last great post-impressionist, Gauguin's work has had a profound
impact on modern art; but with celebrations of his achievements
come frequent accusations of sexual misconduct, familial neglect
and racism.
Through
untangling the truth about Gauguin's experiences, including his
journey to Tahiti and events in Arles which culminated in Van Gogh
cutting off his ear, the programme seeks to understand the dichotomy
between Gauguin the artistic genius, visionary and philosopher and
Gauguin the rude, self-destructive, scandaliser of society.
Gauguin:
The Full Story is a ZCZ production for 大象传媒 TWO and 大象传媒 FOUR (premiering
on 大象传媒 FOUR).
