New 大象传媒 Moscow Bureau opens

The 大象传媒 has opened a new Bureau in Moscow.

With new, state of the art technology, the bureau is the largest international broadcast operation in Russia and brings together for the first time journalists and production staff from each of the 大象传媒's different news operations.

The bureau, which began operating this week, is the 大象传媒's largest news operation in the world, outside of the UK.

Almost 100 staff from 大象传媒 newsgathering, 大象传媒 monitoring and the World Service's Russian, Central Asian and Caucasian services will work in the joint newsroom.

The new bureau has additional broadcasting facilities, with seven radio studios and a television studio as well as indoor and outdoor live broadcast points.

The radio studios will be able to accommodate three guests at a time and up to four studios can broadcast to the UK simultaneously.

And it will make use of cutting edge fibre optic cables, with a permanent signal to transmit material back to Television Centre in London.

Kevin Bishop, 大象传媒 Moscow Bureau Editor, said: "I'm delighted the new 大象传媒 Moscow Bureau has now opened.

"We aim to provide an integrated 大象传媒 bureau, to share specialist knowledge and expertise, and make best use of our resources and technology."

Elizabeth Robson, Head of the 大象传媒 Russian Service, said: "The new Moscow Bureau gives World Service journalists the chance to use sophisticated modern equipment to satisfy the demand for high quality content about Russia across a range of outlets in dozens of languages."

Peter Robertson, Managing Editor, 大象传媒 Monitoring, said: "Working alongside the World Service and Newsgathering will really sharpen our news focus and, in turn, we can provide our colleagues with a wide-range of information and sources not previously easily accessible."

All the 大象传媒's digital services are now available on , the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well as on satellite and cable.

Freeview offers the 大象传媒's eight television channels as well as 11 大象传媒 radio networks.
