Carl's
emotional orphanage visit brings money flowing in
Money
has been flowing in from caring 大象传媒 WM listeners after they heard
Carl Chinn's emotional reports from a Romanian orphanage.
Carl
visited Siret with representatives from the West Midlands Fire Service
earlier this month and whilst broadcasting from the orphanage he
became upset and broke down live on air.
As
a result of Carl's reports, listeners have been sending in donations
for the orphanage. So far, 大象传媒 WM has received more than 拢5,000
and promises to host quiz and comedy nights to boost funds even
further.
A local
firm has also promised 拢1,000 of new children's clothes and Carl
hopes more money can be raised before orphanage worker, Monica McDaid,
visits 大象传媒 WM later this month to be presented with the final cheque.
Carl
says: "In Siret, the situation is heartbreaking. I saw young people
with physical disabilities and learning needs imprisoned in the
most vile and squalid conditions. Now, thanks to the generosity
of 大象传媒 WM's listeners their lives can be improved. I'm deeply touched
and moved by the humanity of our listeners and by the way in which
they've reached out the hand of friendship to those in need."
People
wishing to help Carl's appeal can drop their cheques - no cash please
- into 大象传媒 Birmingham Front Reception or send them to Romania Aid
Appeal Fund, 大象传媒 WM, PO Box 206, Birmingham B5 7SD. Cheques should
be made payable to Romania Aid Appeal.
Carl
Chinn broadcasts on 大象传媒 WM every weekday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
