27 March 2003, 大象传媒 THREE, 9.00pm
大象传媒
THREE has launched a new programme - The War This Week - a specially
commissioned news special looking at the war in Iraq from the perspective
of international broadcasters.
A week
into the war in Iraq this half hour programme looks at all the major
developments day by day to ensure viewers are fully briefed on all
aspects of the war.
Narrated
by Dermot Murnaghan it cuts between footage from the different broadcasters
- 大象传媒 TV, Al Jazeera, Iraqi TV, Kuwait TV and ABC - to highlight
nuances in reporting style and propaganda.
Stuart
Murphy, Controller of 大象传媒 Three, said: "The War this Week will
guide the 大象传媒 THREE audience through the major events of the past
week using television footage from around the world.
"This
is an important part of 大象传媒 THREE's commitment to news and current
affairs and will be a chance for the audience to take stock of events
in the war in what we hope will be a relevant and accessible way."
Executive
Producer Colin Savage added: "In a climate where viewers are
being bombarded with information from many different sources in
a constantly changing news environment, The War This Week aims to
give an accurate overview in an in depth but easily digestible form."
The
programme starts with a look at the three main stories of the week.
Providing
background and a timeline to the war it takes a look at five or
six of the main stories for each day of the week.
At
the end viewers will be shown the most significant image of the
week.
The
War This Week is part of the 大象传媒's commitment to continue to offer
the broadest range of coverage across all its services - television,
radio and 大象传媒i - catering to all its audiences.
It
reflects the commitment of 大象传媒 THREE to produce news specifically
for its target audience.
