Radio 1 signs Zane Lowe

Zane LoweAfter months of speculation, 大象传媒 Radio 1 announced today (Wednesday 26 March 2003) that Zane Lowe will be joining the station to front its key Tuesday to Thursday 8.00-10.00pm slots.

Zane brings his own brand of adrenaline fuelled musical passion to the station from July 2003.

His show will be the place to hear the breaking bands and artists that matter, coming out of all of the best parts of the musical universe.

Zane said: "This is a great opportunity for me to continue doing what I love but now it is going to be on a national platform."

Colin Murray, who has fronted the slots since January, will now focus on his Saturday morning show (10.00am-1.00pm) which he will co-host with Edith Bowman. The show starts on Saturday 29 March.

Andy Parfitt, Controller Radio 1, said: "Zane is one of the most exciting presenters I've seen or heard in years.

"He has masses of energy and passion for the music which is infectious - which makes him absolutely the person to connect our listeners to the new bands and the artists that they are really care about."

Zane's show will start from July 2003, Tuesday-Thursday, 8.00-10.00pm.

Notes to Editors

Zane worked in TV and Radio in New Zealand for close to four years, presenting, directing, producing and programming as well as making his own music.

Deciding he needed to shake things up a bit he travelled for three months and ended up in London where a tape of what he could do found its way to MTV who were suitably impressed and gave him a job.

This led to shows on London-based station XFM and most recently to Radio 1.
