The
magic of dance and performance comes to 大象传媒 ONE
Matthew
Bourne's dazzling new performance of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker
and the magical world of the Cirque du Soleil will
be brought to 大象传媒 ONE later this year in a spectacular celebration
of the performing arts.
大象传媒

revitalised Arts coverage.

hoping to bring as wide an audience as possible to Matthew Bourne's
refreshingly original Nutcracker, and to the breathtaking innovative
performance art that is uniquely Cirque du Soleil."
Award-winning
Matthew Bourne's delicious, festive production is full of wit and
theatrical magic, from the hilariously bleak Christmas Eve at Dr
Dross's orphanage, through a shimmering ice-skating wonderland,
to the spectacular candy characters of Sweetieland and kaleidoscopic,
Busby Berkeley-style scenes.
Anthony
Ward is the designer and Tchaikovsky's score is performed by The
Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Matthew
Bourne has made his name with imaginative new versions of classical
ballets. His Swan Lake, with male swans, went on to become the longest
running ballet in the West End and won over 25 international awards,
culminating in a Tony Award-winning run on Broadway.
Further
West End successes followed with Cinderella and The Car Man (a restaging
of Carmen).
Cirque
du Soleil - the critically acclaimed Montreal based troupe of acrobats,
gymnasts, dancers and clowns - offers a totally modern take on the
circus tradition.

ONE's one-off special is the perfect introduction to Cirque du Soleil's
unique world, presenting extracts from their permanent shows and
their touring big top productions.
Each
production is a magical creation set within its own world of extraordinary
music, choreography and gravity defying feats.
As
well as providing the breathtaking spectacle of the shows themselves,
the programme gives the television audience a glimpse behind the
scenes, revealing the intense rehearsals that make it possible to
achieve the seemingly impossible.
All the
