Radio Cornwall presenter scoops two Sony Awards

Radio Cornwall presenter Sarah Gorrell was celebrating a double
success last night (Thursday 8 May 2003) after winning in two categories
at the prestigious Sony Awards.
Sarah
won the silver in the Interaction Category for a programme she produced
and presented tackling the difficult subject of suicide.
Guests
on the three-hour programme included families affected by suicide,
with the Samaritans taking calls.
The
judges noted: "This programme tackled a taboo subject that
few would touch and produced an amazing piece of radio.
"Sarah
Gorrell's presentation was controlled and well pitched, with the
studio guests superbly handled."
Sarah
also won a bronze in the Speech Broadcaster category.
The
judges commented: "Sarah Gorrell can not only produce and present
powerful radio, but she is changing the lives of viewers in the
process."

Radio Cornwall's Managing Editor Pauline Causey says: "We are
very lucky in Cornwall to have presenters of a national standard
who could make their living on any of the networks, but choose to
stay in Cornwall because it's a great place to live and broadcast.
"Sarah's
awards are well deserved and we are very proud of her."
