buys UK rights to Stephen King series
The
大象传媒 has acquired exclusive UK TV rights from Sony Pictures Television
International to broadcast the much anticipated new series, Stephen
King's Kingdom Hospital.
Described
as a "cross between ER and The Shining", the series stars
Ed Begley Jr, Andrew McCarthy and Academy Award nominees Diane Ladd
and Bruce Davison.
The
supernatural drama is set in a modern hospital built on the site
of an ancient mill and the Old Kingdom hospital, both destroyed
by fire, where ghosts from the past invade the present.
It
is based on cult Director Lars Von Trier's 1994 and 1997 Danish
TV mini-series, Riget (The Kingdom).
The
director is Craig Baxley, who also directed King's highly rated
Stephen King's Rose Red.
Announcing
the deal 大象传媒 Controller of Acquisitions, George McGhee, said: "We're
very pleased that the 大象传媒 has exclusive first UK rights to this
smart and edgy series from Stephen King, the master of suspense.
I think the series will be a great addition to 大象传媒 TWO and THREE
schedules."
Written
entirely by King, series one will air in the United States with
a 90 minutes premiere in February 2004.
The
大象传媒 will broadcast Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital later in the
year.
All the
大象传媒's digital services are now available on ,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable.
Freeview
offers the 大象传媒's eight television channels, interactive services
from 大象传媒i, as well as 11 national 大象传媒 radio networks.
