Competition timetable

Competition process: March 2003 – October 2003

Appointment: End 2003

Planning application: Late 2004

Commence on site: Early 2005

Completion: Late 2006

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ Music Centre competition has been conducted in two rounds.

Although the jury was impressed by the proposals that were submitted in round one, the initial designs were in excess of the figure that had been clearly established in the competition brief.

We had to ensure that the winner’s scheme could be realised on budget and the architects were asked to resubmit their designs.

At that point, we also reduced the number of architects from five to four (see Biographies of Architects).
