Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up

大象传媒 ONE presents Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, the all new prime time live Saturday night show which invites the British public to choose the song that will go forward to the Eurovision Song Contest in Turkey in May and salvage the UK's reputation as the home of popular music.

For years the UK was the country to beat in the Eurovision Song Contest, but over the last decade our European neighbours have caught up and now we have to raise our game to restore some patriotic pride.

"We know what we can achieve as a nation when we pull together so let's get behind our performers, pick the right one and give them the best chance of winning," says Bea Ballard, the 大象传媒's Creative Head of Entertainment Events.

Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up - on Saturday 28 February - kicks off the 大象传媒's coverage of Eurovision 2004 across 大象传媒 ONE and 大象传媒 THREE.

Presented with usual aplomb by Terry Wogan, the hour long show features performances by the six competing acts on a spectacular set in front of a studio audience with several guest appearances.

Terry says: "I love the Eurovision Song Contest and welcome the changes that the 大象传媒 has made this year.

"I hope the British public will get behind their favourite song in the spirit of Eurovision. And let's not forget to have some fun too!"

Britain's top pop composing teams - whose artists credits include Blue, Christina Aguilera, Westlife, Ronan Keating, Enrique Iglesias and Cher - have written five of the competing songs with the sixth keeping a door open for the nation's budding songwriters via the traditional British Academy route.

Under a strict veil of secrecy each of the six acts have spent several months being groomed for the show. The time for secrecy is now over.

After months of speculation the performers can be revealed - Enrap-ture, Haifa, James Fox, Hyrise, Madison Taylor and Haydon - will all compete for the honour of representing the UK at Eurovision 2004 in Istanbul this May.

The performers who will compete to represent the UK at Eurovision 2004

New to Eurovision 2004 and Making Your Mind Up will be an expert panel who'll be there to provide an overview for the audience of what they should be looking for in the songs and of the performers who will give us the very best chance of winning in Istanbul in May.

The panel will offer an insight into what it takes to perform live in front of an audience of 160 million viewers, relive some classic contest moments from 49 years of the competition, discuss what's worked at Eurovision over the past few years and what went wrong last year.

大象传媒 THREE will be getting into the Eurovision spirit with two live shows, packed with musical performances, classic Eurovision moments, comedy and chat with the six acts, their friends, family and celebrity fans.

There'll also be a studio audience exit poll giving viewers an indication of the vote before the official results are announced.

Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up culminates in a Results Show, later in the evening.

Borrowing from one of Eurovision's most exciting elements, the scoring will mirror the traditional nail-biting process by which points are allocated.

The voting will be a technical tour de force with seven celebrity regional spokespeople announcing their vote plus a combined SMS/Interactive result on a spectacular Eurovision scoreboard to keep track of points.

The show will end with the presentation of the Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up trophy and with the winning act performing the song that will hopefully bring Eurovision victory to the UK.

Over the next three months the winner will have their song commercially released and will be prepared for the extraordinary honour of representing their country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday 15 May.
