"If you talk of the problems next door in Cote
d'Ivoire, these are problems that could impinge on Ghana with some devastation.
Any government worth its salt wouldn't sit by and let an overspill of
those problems," he said.

"I want to be able to have
a positive leverage on the situation and help restore peace and democracy
to that country."

In an interview in London with
大象传媒 World Service he said Ghanaians knew why he
was spending time on foreign policy.
"Ghanaians know that our immediate neighbours are embroiled in
troubles. They also know that for as long as the neighbourhood is on
fire we won't have peace. So they want their president to lead the putting
out of the fires," he said.
