Eamonn Holmes joins 大象传媒 ONE to present Hard Spell in a search for Britain聮s best young speller

If you're aged between 11 to 14 and fancy showing off your spelling skills on television in front of the whole country, now's your chance!

"Hard Spell is a chance for you at home to see what you can do, it's an opportunity to put you and your school on the map and it'll be great for families across the country to play along," says presenter Eamonn Holmes.

Hard Spell combines accessible learning with an engaging TV event that will inspire, educate and entertain.

Eamonn continues: "At a time when our education system is often criticised, here is a chance to sit back in awe and see the quality of what some schools are doing."

To get involved head teachers should email hardspell@bbc.co.uk by Friday 18 June 2004.

Schools will then be sent starter packs to organise their own spelling competitions to be held in September.

This is your opportunity to get involved and find your best young speller so the sooner you register, the sooner your children can start swotting!

Eamonn says: "This has been going on in America for years with the spelling bee competitions and now that we have lit the taper here in Britain, stand back and watch the fireworks as schools compete against schools and pupils against pupils."

The programme will be recorded in the autumn and air on 大象传媒 ONE late this year.

Viewers will watch the hopes, nerves and excitement of children across the UK as they spell their way to the top of the class.

Eamonn: "These kids are like spelling athletes and I'm there to congratulate them when they cross the finish line or give them a pat on the back if they don't."

Each school's best young speller will go through to a regional heat in October and, perhaps, the national final in London.

The TV cameras will be there to film the best spellers and follow the stories of them and their families through to the big finale.

Spelling has never been so compelling!
