Interactivity on 大象传媒 Television and 大象传媒 World Service's websites were showcased to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Crown Princess of Thailand, during her visit to 大象传媒 World Service (WS) on Tuesday 14 September.

HRH Princess Sirindhorn, who is interested in the use of new technologies to promote education, met with the teams of the 大象传媒 Interactive TV and 大象传媒 World Service New Media at Bush House in central London.

The 大象传媒 teams demonstrated the use of interactive television, and key elements of the 大象传媒 World Service Global Conversation, including online debates and webcasts, across all language services.

Director of 大象传媒 World Service Nigel Chapman, who hosted HRH Princess Sirindhorn, said: "I am delighted with HRH Princess Sirindhorn's interest in the 大象传媒's interactive operations.

"We are constantly investing in developing interactivity across our services to promote dialogue and engagement across nations and to be a global forum for exchange of opinion."

The 大象传媒 took the opportunity of HRH Princess Sirindhorn's visit to officially launch the website of 大象传媒 Thai service bbcthai.com in a new format highlighting the access, in audio and text, to key news stories and programmes, daily press reviews, features and series as well as original pictures and illustrations to the Thai story of the day.

Head of 大象传媒 Thai service, Somchai Suwanban, was delighted the official launch of the service's revamped website was timed to coincide with HRH Princess Sorindhorn's visit.

He said: "Since the soft launch last week of the bbcthai.com page impressions to the site have more than doubled and we have been receiving very positive feedback from Thai speakers across the world."
