So you want to be a TV presenter? Journalist? Scriptwriter? Web producer?
Radio DJ? Step this way.
Hundreds of media industry hopefuls will descend on the ExCel Exhibition
Centre in Docklands on Wednesday 20 October, not for the next 'X Factor'
auditions, but for the largest media careers event the capital has ever
seen.
The London Media Careers Information Day is sponsored by the 大象传媒, ITV,
Channel 4, Skillset, the University of the Arts and The Guardian and
is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for anyone interested in a career
in the media industry, be it as a journalist, TV producer, camera operator,
VT editor, make-up artist or radio broadcaster.
Activities on offer include exhibition stands and presentations/workshops
on a range of media industry related topics.
As well as the sponsors, exhibitors will include production companies,
training providers and a host of other organisations that can give sound
advice on how to make that first break.
There will also be hands-on activities and the chance to talk informally
with well known presenters from TV and radio.
The event is open to anyone interested in a career in the media industry
and is especially aimed at those aged 16+, sixth-formers, students in
further and higher education and job changers in the London area and
beyond.
The 大象传媒's Head of Recruitment Communications, Roger Hammett, says:
"No matter what aspect of the media industry you're interested in, you
will find it here.
"It is the only event that will bring together as many and varied
representatives of the media under one roof in this area this year.
"So there will be no better opportunity to get your career in
the media off to a great head start."
Lindsay Charlton, Managing Director of ITV Meridian, is equally enthusiastic:
"Thousands of young people have an ambition to work in the media but
what are the facts and what is the fiction about a career in broadcasting?
"The London Media Careers Information Day is one of the best ways
of finding out the truth about the wide range of roles and careers available
in the media industry".
Kate O'Connor, Deputy CEO of Skillset, adds: "It is increasingly important
in the media industry for new entrants to have exposure to the real
issues and opportunities that exist.
"Skillset is delighted to be involved with the London Media Careers
Information Day because it provides the perfect forum for so many representatives
of the industry to get together and paint the real picture for the next
generation of the media industry."
The event runs from 10.30am until 4.30pm and tickets can be ordered
on line at www.mediacareersday.co.uk at a price of 拢5.
Depending on demand a limited number of tickets will be available on
the day.
