大象传媒 Birmingham dominates Royal Television Society awards



大象传媒 Birmingham took the honours in eight categories at the Royal Television Society (Midlands) Awards ceremony last night (Saturday 9 October).


The event at Birmingham's International Convention Centre saw 大象传媒 Birmingham claiming eight wins from the 11 categories it was nominated in including: Best Factual Programme, Best Drama, Best Lifestyle Programme and Best Regional Programme.

One Life: Size Doesn't Matter (大象传媒 ONE) picked up the gong for Best Factual Programme and Desi DNA (大象传媒 TWO), which features the best in British Asian arts, entertainment and culture, scooped Best Lifestyle Programme.

Countryfile (大象传媒 ONE) was named Best News & Current Affairs Programme for its Senegal Fishing Special and Inside Out (大象传媒 ONE West Midlands), led by Series Editor Andrew Tomlinson, won the Best Regional Programme category.


The 大象传媒 ONE daytime drama series The Afternoon Play swept the board in the drama categories.

Sons, Daughters and Lovers written and directed by Matthew Parkhill, celebrated a double success taking the Best Drama and Best Actor titles.

Born and Bred star Michael French was named Best Actor and Best Actress went to Kaye Wragge for another play in the series called Drive.


Sarah Lancashire, one of Britain's most popular actresses picked up the Best New Talent award for her directorial debut on Viva las Blackpool.


Andy Griffee, Controller, 大象传媒 English Regions and Head of Centre, says: "To be recognised for our work in such a range of programmes, from drama and documentary to regional series, is a testament to the excellent production teams we have here in Birmingham.


"The teams are committed to making original and distinctive output for our audiences and this is demonstrated by all our award winners - from Desi DNA and One Life through to the Afternoon Play drama series which was brought to 大象传媒 ONE in a new approach to daytime programming."
