Spelling just got compelling! In a nationwide competition, the search
is on to find the UK's top young speller.
From The Shetlands to Penzance, school children up and down the country
are hoping their spelling skills will win them a place in the national
finals of 大象传媒 ONE's nail-biting new spelling event Hard Spell.
Thousands of pupils have spent the last few weeks taking part in school
spelling competitions to find the best speller.
Now these children are set to compete in regional heats across the
country.
The winners of the regional heats will go on to the national finals
of Hard Spell which will be broadcast in November on 大象传媒 ONE.
Ten regional heats will take place this October in London, Cambridge,
Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Exeter and Cardiff.
Eamonn Holmes, presenter of Hard Spell, is delighted
that there has been such a great take-up across the country:

"Hard Spell is a chance for you at home to see what you can do.
It's an opportunity to put you and your school on the map and it'll
be great for families across the country to play along."
In November this year, viewers will follow the hopes, nerves, and
excitement of children across the country as they spell their way to
the top of the class and go through to the big finale.
Says Eamonn: "This has been going on in America for years with
the spelling bee competitions and now that we have lit the taper here
in the UK, stand back and watch the fireworks as schools and pupils
compete for the title of this country's first national spelling champion."
Dates of the regional heats are as follows:
