The 大象传媒 Natural History Unit is today celebrating a hugely successful year after picking up seven Panda Awards at the 2004 Wildscreen Festival held in Bristol.

Wildscreen 聳 an annual gathering of international wildlife filmmakers - is the world's biggest festival of moving images from the natural world.

This year, the event attracted a record 406 entries from 41 countries.

The 大象传媒 picked up seven of the 20 Panda Awards, including the Children's Choice Award, the Granada Award for Animal Behaviour and the ARKive Interactive Award.

大象传媒 TWO and OSF Productions also collected the prestigious WWF Golden Panda Award for Elephant, Emperor and Butterfly Tree, part of the 大象传媒's Natural World strand.

Natural World showcases some of the leading wildlife film-makers from around the world.

The strand has picked up countless awards since it was first broadcast in 1983 and is starting a new run on 大象传媒 TWO at 8.00pm on Thursday nights.

Head of the 大象传媒 Natural History Unit, Neil Nightingale, says: "These awards are a wonderful recognition from our peers.

"Wildlife television is an internationally popular and competitive genre, where the high standard of film-making is continually raising the bar.

"The two awards for Elephant, Emperor and Butterfly Tree really demonstrate just how well the independent sector can work alongside the 大象传媒 to produce compelling, top-notch television.

"Here in Bristol since 1957, the 大象传媒 Natural History Unit has been setting new benchmarks in creativity and quality, documenting both the diversity and fragility of our natural world for audiences worldwide.

"These latest accolades are testimony to the dedication and skill of our team, who push the boundaries to get spectacular footage for some memorable programmes."
