On 22 October, 大象传媒 Radio Five Live launches its Digital Week.
The aim of the week is to help listeners get to grips with our increasingly
digital world in a straightforward, no-nonsense and fun way and to explore
all the benefits going digital brings.
During the week presenters from across the station will be encouraging
listeners to explore bbc.co.uk/fivelive, to try listening to Five Live
in a new digital way and to listen to some of the best sport on Five
Live Sports Extra.
There will also be various initiatives and competitions. The Breakfast
show is on a UK-wide hunt to find the person with the oldest radio in
Britain to present them with a brand spanking new digital one.
Also in Breakfast, Phil Williams will announce his personal top five
events in music which can be heard via the 大象传媒 Archive that is being
made available on the digital platforms.
He will then open up the debate and ask listeners to find the ultimate
top five events in music history.
On bbc.co.uk/fivelive there is a competition running all week in which
listeners can win a 'digital life'.
By simply answering one question, players can win this fabulous prize
comprising a DAB digital radio, Freeview box, iPod, mobile phone and
digital camera.
On Friday 29 October Five Live Controller Bob Shennan and his management
team will spend the day on the Five Live message board answering listeners'
questions.
There will be the usual mix of phone-ins, live guests and features
allowing listeners to explore the issues and benefits of digital media,
from the planned analogue television switch off to downloading music
and how it's changed the music industry.
Michael Hill, Head of Interactive at 大象传媒 Radio Five Live, said: "Five
Live was born on medium wave, and it's served us well - but we've outgrown
it now.
"Anyone who's tried us on digital knows it's the only way to listen
- with DAB radios down to starting from 拢50, digital TV in more than
half our homes, and the ability to choose what you listen to on the
大象传媒 Radio Player.
"I bought a DAB radio for my dad and he summed it up when he said,
'It's like listening in full-colour 3-D'.
"Five Live Digital Week is aimed at transforming more listeners'
worlds in the same way."
