Live coverage of the results will also be available on 大象传媒 Radio 5 Live from midnight on Tuesday 2 November and simulcast on 大象传媒 Radio 4 from 1.00 until 5.30am on Wednesday 3 November.

The programme will be presented by Julian Worricker, Rhod Sharp and James Naughtie, and reporters will also hear from voters across the United States.

Both Radio 4's Today programme and 大象传媒 TWO's Newsnight will broadcast from the American capital on the day of polling, and bbc.co.uk/news will include extensive reporting in the run-up to the day of voting, together with correspondent analysis and user interactivity.

The 大象传媒's Ten O'Clock News will provide viewers with added depth and context to the contest with the launch of the world's first interactive television news bulletin - Ten O'Clock News Extra will offer greater detail to the processes, policy and personalities involved.

On Thursday 28 October 大象传媒 ONE's Question Time will come from Miami, in the key state of Florida.

Guests will include writer Michael Moore; George W Bush's former speech writer, David Frum; former advisor to President Clinton, Sidney Blumenthal; and journalist, Richard Littlejohn.
