Friday
Night with Jonathan Ross, 10.35pm, Friday 29 October 2004, 大象传媒 ONE
听
Geri Halliwell says it's best to be curvy when
she meets Jonathan Ross in this week's edition of the 大象传媒 ONE
show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
听
Geri, who has regained her former voluptuous figure
after a famously skinny phase, says she's never been more comfortable
with her image.
听
Of men she says: "I get more attention" -
"when you get to 30 everything just clicks".
听
But it can still be difficult to meet the right man:
"I do meet guys... I like to keep it personal... I have to trust,
otherwise I live my life in a box.
听
"As I've got older I've got to trust my instinct
a bit more. I'm interested in the man himself.
听
"I've dated a lot... I like a real male, an alpha
male. I think we're designed to be with the perfect mate."
听
About her skinny years in LA, Geri says: "I was
heavily working out, I was rigid with my eating. I tried being really
controlling.
听
"Now I've eased off. It's not the most important
thing to me any more. For me it's been a journey of feeling comfortable
in my own skin."
听
Geri doesn't rule out a return to the Spice Girls: "I
never say never."
听
But she says she's happy with the direction her career
is taking now: "I feel proud of what we did, but everything has
its time.
听
"Part of me is afraid to go back to it. No-one's
the same any more.
听
"I've learned to be a solo artist, I couldn't cope
with four other people. In a band you have to conform a bit."
听
Geri, the last ex-Spice Girl to be interviewed by Jonathan,
reveals she still has the same record deal: "I'm the only one who's
still got the original recording contract."
听
Her new single, Ride It, is released next month.
听
Jonathan also welcomes to the show EastEnders queen
and Carry On legend Barbara Windsor in her first TV interview
since her return from illness.
听
She talks about her prolonged period of ill-health:
"I fought it but then the rot set in. The worst thing was the depression.
You do say please God, don't let me wake up tomorrow."
听
And on EastEnders: "It's just not been right. I
had a huge storyline they had to cut. [Now] I'm not under contract [but]
when they sort themselves out, who knows?"
听
And says she聮s delighted with Michael Caine's recent
comments about the soap: "I phoned him and said thank you, you
can't buy that publicity."
听
Jonathan is also joined by former Buffy star Sarah
Michelle Gellar whose new movie, The Grudge, opens in the UK on
5 November, and there's music from Las Vegas band The Killers.
