Pudsey gearing up to rock Wrexham

In their first TV appearance since re-forming, pop group Wet Wet Wet are set to rock Wrexham along with many other great acts at Party For Pudsey, the 大象传媒 Children In Need concert in Wrexham on 19 November.

Also performing on what promises to be a rocking good night are an impressive list of UK talents - Katherine Jenkins, Lisa Stansfield, Lisa Scott-Lee, Dragonheart and Noise Next Door.


An audience of 6,000 are expected at the free event in Llwyn Isaf, near the Guildhall, Wrexham.

The television broadcast will be presented by Jason Mohammad and Frances Donovan, while Kevin Hughes and Howard Griffiths will be on hand to introduce the acts on stage and keep spirits high.


The concert is co-promoted by 大象传媒 Wales and Wrexham County Borough Council with the support of Airbus UK.

It will feature regularly on 大象传媒 ONE Wales on the night, with contributions from Wrexham being shown on 大象传媒 ONE network - bringing the spirit of the Wrexham event to the rest of the UK.


The event will be broadcast live on 大象传媒 Radio Wales.

A concert highlights programme and series of individual performances will be broadcast later on in the year on digital channel 大象传媒 2W.


Admission is through ticket only and the local number to call for free tickets is 01978 313 763.

Tickets can also be reserved by calling the 大象传媒 NOW ticketline on 08700 1318 12.

Callers are restricted to four tickets per household.

大象传媒 Wales Children in Need producer Jonathan Davies said: "It promises to be a great night out all round.

"I'm sure Wrexham will give Wet Wet Wet and the other great acts a proper Welsh welcome."


Wrexham County Borough Council's Chief Executive, Isobel Garner, said: "The excitement is beginning to build here in Wrexham for what is going to be a fantastic evening.

"This is a great chance for the rest of the UK to see how generous and kind the people of Wrexham can be when they turn out to support Pudsey either at the concert or through their own fundraising efforts.

"We are delighted to be supporting Children in Need in its 25th anniversary year."


Phil Swash, Broughton Site Manager at Airbus UK, said: "At Airbus we feel very privileged to be able to support and help raise funds for Children In Need in this way.

"We are all looking forward to what promises to be a very special and memorable evening."


As a result of the successful 2003 Appeal the total distributed to projects in Wales by 大象传媒 Children In Need amounted to 拢2,327,729, with the total across the UK reaching 拢31m.

Grants in Wales ranged from 拢450 to 拢91,000 and included nine organisations in the immediate Wrexham area.


A total of 拢140,216 was distributed to various organisations including Offa Playschemes Association and Wrexham Association of Seasonal Playschemes; Homestart Wrexham; Nightingale House Hospice; Caia Park Nursery and Caia Park After Schools Clubs.
