Folk Awards show producer John Leonard says: "This year's awards
- more than any other - reflect the stunning talent the folk scene embraces
and recognises both senior figures and up and coming artists, all richly
deserving of recognition beyond the boundaries of traditional music.
听
"I am particularly pleased at the number of nominations for Scottish
artists as we have been saying for some time that there are some superbly
gifted musicians and singers north of the border who do not often get
the attention outside Scotland that their talent merits.
听
"The shortlists also focus on the great new acts that are coming
through, like Karine Polwart, Seth Lakeman and Kirsty Magee and their
wonderful music is making traditional music more accessible and bringing
it to a wider audience than ever before."
