The 25 companies on the preferred suppliers list will
now be able to tender to the 大象传媒 for commissions for the 大象传媒 digital
curriculum.
听
The suppliers chosen for the list were assessed against
criteria including creativity, educational knowledge, technical expertise
and financial and budget management, among others.
The 大象传媒 undertook a competitive tendering process under the European
Union Public Procurement Directives to establish the list.
听
The publication of the list in a Contract Award Notice
in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJEC) is expected
shortly.
听
In addition to the commissions open to the preferred
suppliers list above, 大象传媒 in-house production teams will also be commissioning
elements of content production from specialist external suppliers.
听
Approval for the 大象传媒 digital curriculum was granted
in January 2003 by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
听
It will be a free online service, available on narrowband
and broadband, and structured around current UK school curricula for
5 to 16 year olds.
听
It will provide high quality interactive resources
designed to stimulate learning at school and at home.
听
Digital curriculum content will cover up to 50% of the
learning outcomes deemed to be ICT (Information and Communication Technology)
amenable as defined by BECTA, the Government's education technology
agency.
听
Creativity and innovation will be important aspects
of the service.
听
The digital curriculum will have technical trials and
piloting before its formal launch in January 2006.
听
