Inside Out, the series which gives a compelling and entertaining insight into the unusual aspects of life in the region, returns to 大象传媒 ONE West on Monday 10 January.

The investigative team led by Tessa Dunlop are back to uncover more surprising stories from familiar places across the West.

Tessa says: "We've had a fantastic time making the programmes and we seem to have tapped into an amazing seam of stories about life in the West Country. I'm convinced they're the kind of things that people will still be chatting about at work the next day.

"There's a huge variety of films covering every subject under the sun - heartache, local history, guilt, celebrity - and that's just for starters!"

In the opening programme Sir David Attenborough visits 83-year-old folk musician Peter Kennedy from Gloucester.

With more than 50 years of folk customs and traditions captured on film and sound recordings, Peter boasts one of the country's greatest film archives.

Sir David Attenborough pays tribute to his unique collection: "There are all kinds of reasons why I think it's marvellous. It tells you about your history, your identity. It tells you about past beliefs. It often speaks the truth in a very poetic way and is often extremely beautiful.

"It's marvellous that there was someone around who cared enough to do it."

Also in the first programme of the series:

It's four years since Stephen Back from Bishop's Lydeard near Taunton disappeared leaving behind his family and two children.

His wife believes he's dead but his father continues to search for him, unable to accept that he would walk out on his children.

Inside Out discovers how the people left behind have been torn apart in their anguish.

And Tessa Dunlop turns private detective to try and track down the elusive Bristol street artist Banksy.

Wanted by the police for daubing his work on buildings across the city and beyond, his subversive attitude towards authority has made him a hero for some.

The new series of nine Inside Out programmes begins on 大象传媒 ONE West, Monday 10 January 2005 at 7.30pm.
