C大象传媒 gets serious about global warming

Eight young explorers are attempting to help the plight of the endangered polar bear by collecting crucial data linked to global warming.

Polar bears could be extinct by the end of this century if nothing is done to tackle global climate change.*

A new six-part C大象传媒 programme, Serious Arctic, filmed earlier last year, follows the adventures of the eight - picked from 大象传媒 Talent auditions around the UK - as they brave the elements in the Canadian High Arctic.

They measured, for the first time, one of Canada's most southerly glaciers 聳 the Grinnell Glacier - which forms part of the hunting ground of the world's largest meat-eating land mammal.

The Arctic ice cap is only half as thick as it was 30 years ago and if the current rate of melting continues, there may be no ice at all by 2070.*

If the polar bear's hunting ground disappears then the species faces extinction.

Serious Arctic starts at 2.00pm on Saturday 15 January 2005 on The C大象传媒 Channel.
