大象传媒 Radio 4 announced today
that its current affairs programme More or Less, which returns
this week with a new series, is to be co-produced for the first time
by The Open University.
Presented by Andrew Dilnot, More or Less is the essential guide
to numbers, risk, league tables, targets, budgets 聳 measurement
and quantification of every kind in the news, our personal lives and
elsewhere.
听
The Open University investment will enable the programme
to get to the bottom of some of the more difficult numbers stories.
听
The 大象传媒 will retain editorial control of the series.
Says Nicola Meyrick, Radio 4 Home Current Affairs Editor: "We
are delighted by the prospect of this co-operation, which is the first
ever between the Open University and a topical current affairs programme.
听
"The Open University's investment will enable More
or Less to be still more ambitious in its content and production values
and we look forward to a fruitful partnership."
In addition, The Open University will also be setting up a web site,
linked to More or Less, which will offer visitors more information about
the world of numbers, statistics and probability.
Says David Robinson, Head of Broadcasting at The Open University: "The
OU is one of Britain's top universities in Maths and Statistics and
we are delighted to be working with 大象传媒 current affairs on a programme
covering the application of numbers and mathematics to our everyday
lives."

The current six-part series is produced by Michael
Blastland and edited by Nicola Meyrick and starts on Radio 4 on Thursday
13 January 2005 at 3.00pm.
