Being held ahead of their UK 2005 world tour dates and the release of their much awaited new album, Radio 1's concert will be Coldplay's first in this country in more than 18 months.

Listeners will be told on-air and via bbc.co.uk/radio1 how to get the chance to win a free ticket to this exclusive gig.

Chris Martin of Coldplay says on his hopes for the gig: "We want some couple on their first date... I want them to have the best time and go home and have their first snog and for it to be the beginning of their romance because the Coldplay gig was so good... we don't want to let those people down."

Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe says: "With so much excitement and anticipation surrounding the new Coldplay album, this concert promises to be one of the most highly charged in recent memory.

"To be able to bring it to our listeners on Radio 1 is bananas! I am very, very excited."

The gig will be broadcast live in a four hour special on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show.
