大象传媒 ONE Northern Ireland will have a special programme this Sunday (13 March) celebrating the success of Methodist College, Belfast at this year's 大象传媒 Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition.

Methodist College Junior Choir were crowned 大象传媒 Radio 3 Children's Choir of the Year 2005 at the prestigious finals held in The Lowry in Salford.

Seventy-seven children from the College aged 11 to 14 travelled to the final.

The competition attracted 134 choirs from across the UK with six choirs, two from each of the three categories, winning through to the final.

Methodist College Junior Choir won their category - Children's Choir of the Year - at their first attempt. The two other categories were Adult Choir of the Year and Youth Choir of the Year.

The programme hears from the children who took part, following them during their trip to Salford with the nerves backstage before going on and the nail-biting wait for the result.

The children also talk about what it was like to take part in the competition, the hard work rehearsing and what it was like to win.

The programme also hears from Conductor Lynda Barrett, Musical Director Ruth McCartney and Headmaster Dr Mulryne.

The programme features the music the choir performed at the event as well as additional pieces recorded at the College which the choir will perform at their Easter concert in the Waterfront Hall.

The half-hour programme, Choir Of The Year 2005, is on 大象传媒 ONE Northern Ireland on Sunday 13 March at 6.25pm.
