大象传媒 Somerset Sound's breakfast show presenter Simon White is leaving to take on a fresh challenge.
听
White - famed for his on-air puns as well as his self-deprecating sense of humour - joined the station when it was first set up in the late Eighties and since then has presented many of its shows.
听
He's covered all the major stories across the county in that time - from serious flooding across Somerset, through the trial of 'shoe bomber' Richard Reid to the Legionnaires' disease outbreak in Glastonbury.
听
He says: "After more than a decade getting up horrendously early for the breakfast show I've decided it's time for a break.
听
"I'm looking forward to pursuing several projects of my own - at least one of which will involve a subject close to my heart... at Somerset County Cricket Club!
听
"I will miss the banter with my loyal listeners across Somerset as well as my colleagues during my long stay with Somerset Sound - a radio station that will remain very close to my heart.
听
"Although I am leaving full time, I will be back occasionally to present some shows."
听
大象传媒 Somerset Sound Assistant Editor Simon Clifford paid tribute to Simon White: "Simon has worked extremely hard for 大象传媒 Somerset Sound over many years.
听
"The breakfast show has become essential listening across the county and Simon's mix of humour and sharp news judgement has helped contribute to that."
听
Simon White's replacement is another West Country presenter - Vic Morgan, an accomplished and experienced journalist who has presented the breakfast show for 大象传媒 Radio Devon.
听
He shares Simon White's love of news and sport, but will bring a new perspective and approach to the all-speech breakfast show.
听
Simon Clifford says: "Vic Morgan is a great catch for Somerset Sound. These are exciting times for the station and we have some very special plans to use Vic in a fresh and far more 'out and about' role than in the past."

Notes to Editors
听
In Building Public Value, the 大象传媒 committed to developing local radio services in various areas including Somerset.
听
At present, the station is run alongside Radio Bristol, but the 大象传媒 aspires to creating a new stand alone service for Somerset.
