大象传媒 TWO has commissioned Liberty Bell Productions to recreate the most popular comic novel of the Victorian era, Three Men in a Boat.

Starring Griff Rhys-Jones, Rory McGrath and Dara O'Briain, the trio will row and tow a boat from Kingston to Oxford.

Their odyssey will take place in an exact replica of the wooden skiff used by author Jerome K Jerome, George, Harris and Montmorency the dog.

The book was first published in 1889, and the series will follow the original journey as faithfully as the passage of 116 years will allow.

They will moor where the original protagonists moored, sleep in the boat where the original characters slumbered, and stay in some of the same pubs and guest-houses.

"It's not intended as an exact recreation," said Commissioning Executive Gilly Hall, "But more an opportunity for three funny men to entertain audiences with themes that have already amused and delighted generations of readers."

The original characters travelled with a motley selection of food supplies and just two changes of linen, intending to bathe and wash their clothes in the river. There promises to be an unprecedented show of flesh from the three comic actors.

Filming takes place along the Thames from 5 to 13 September.

Directed by Michael Massey, Executive Producers are Stuart Prebble (Liberty Bell) and Gilly Hall (大象传媒).

The two parts are 60 minutes each.
