Coach of the Year Jose Mourinho with Lifetime Achievement Award winner Pele

Andrew Flintoff is 大象传媒 Sports Personality of the Year 2005

Cricketer Andrew Flintoff has been voted 大象传媒 Sports Personality of the Year by viewers.

Voting took place during the live Sports Personality of the Year programme on 大象传媒 ONE from 8.00 to 10.00pm by telephone, text and using the red interactive button.

Flintoff received the award live in Lahore, Pakistan where he is on tour with the England cricket team.

Viewers saw cricketer-turned-commentator Ian Botham present the award in Pakistan via a satellite link with London. Ian was the last cricketer to win the award in 1981, when he was also overseas on tour in India.

In second place was Ellen MacArthur, and Steven Gerrard came third.

The three winners beat off competition from Michael Vaughan, Ricky Hatton and Andy Murray who were in the top six shortlist from public nominations going in to the show.

A special award was included in the live show from Television Centre, London - Lord (Sebastian) Coe was presented with a surprise one-off award in recognition of his role in leading the winning 2012 London Olympic bid.

Olympic gold-medallist Daley Thompson was in the studio to present the award.

Brazilian football legend Pele was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the sport. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho presented the award.

Pele's career included 91 international appearances during which he scored 78 international goals. He was a World Cup winner in 1958 and 1970, won the World Club Cup in 1962 and 1963, and was awarded FIFA's Gold Medal for Services to the Game in 1982.

The Ashes-winning England cricket team won Team of the Year.

Captain Michael Vaughan was in the studio in London to receive the award on behalf of the team, along with fellow Ashes team-mates Matthew Hoggard and Simon Jones.

A satellite link-up enabled viewers to see Vaughan speak to the rest of the team, who are currently on tour in Pakistan.

Australian cricketing hero Shane Warne was awarded Overseas Sports Personality of the Year. The award was presented by Richie Benaud.

Warne was up against strong competition which included Fernando Alonso, Lance Armstrong, Roger Federer, Justin Gatlin and Valentino Rossi.

Coach of the Year was awarded to Chelsea Football Club Coach Jose Mourinho for his success in guiding Chelsea to the Premier League title, and continued strong form this season.

Former England and Crystal Palace footballer Geoff Thomas won the Helen Rollason Award for his courage and achievement in overcoming cancer and raising money.

New Zealand rugby player Jonah Lomu, who himself overcame a life-threatening kidney disorder to play rugby again, presented the award.

A special video message was also played to Geoff from six-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

Harry Aikines Aryeetey is the 大象传媒 Young Sports Personality of the Year, selected from nominations made to C大象传媒 and the Youth Sports Trust.

Harry is one of Britain's brightest sprint hopes after he sealed a magnificent breakthrough season by being awarded the IAAF Rising Star Award for 2005.

He became the first sprinter in the six-year history of the IAAF World Youth Championships ever to win both the 100 and 200 metres gold medals. He won the 200 in 20.91 seconds - the fastest in the world this year.

The Unsung Hero Award honours an individual who has given their time and talents for free to enable others to participate in sport.

Trevor Collins, from the Isle of Wight, was chosen from 15 regional winners from around the UK.

Trevor's 25 years' service to West Wight Swimming Club - doing everything from helping dig a new pool to training World and Olympic swimmers - ensured his success in the eyes of the judging panel.

Trevor combines administration with eight hours of coaching a week, while holding down a job.

International football referee Pierluigi Collina presented Trevor with this award live on stage at Television Centre.
