Harry Potter is just one of the many literary characters to be invited to a very special party celebrating Her Majesty The Queen's 80th birthday at Buckingham Palace this summer.

The Queen has 1,000 tickets to give away to children around the UK.

Each ticket allows two children and one adult (parent, grandparent or guardian) into the Palace for a spectacular day.

The Queen has invited C大象传媒 to provide the entertainment for the day which will be bursting with events featuring some of Britain's much-loved literary characters.

JK Rowling is delighted to be joining Harry Potter on the day: "I can think of no better way to mark The Queen's 80th birthday than with a party for children at the Palace with some of the best loved characters from children's literature.

"Harry and I are very much looking forward to attending, particularly as we understand that, despite his alleged membership of the aristocracy, Lord Voldemort has not been invited."

Harry is just one of many favourite literary characters to be invited to the birthday party.

C大象传媒's feisty Tracy Beaker, Mowgli from The Jungle Book, the Gruffalo and two special bears - Paddington Bear and Winnie the Pooh - will be there to join in the fun.

The day will end with a spectacular show for the whole family, and the nation will be able to watch it live on the 大象传媒.

The show is an exciting mix of children's stories.

Sophie Dahl will be playing herself in the BFG. This timeless children's classic was written by her grandfather Roald Dahl and the main character Sophie was based on her.

The show will host many more celebrities along with more literary favourites including Mary Poppins, the White Rabbit, Captain Hook and the Royal Ballet.

All children (4 to 14 years old) living in the UK will be invited to apply from the 1 February through a national ballot by logging onto the C大象传媒 website - bbc.co.uk/cbbc.

Closing dates for applications is 28 February 2006.

C大象传媒's Blue Peter is broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace today (Wednesday 1 February).

Viewers will find out more about how to apply for a ticket and will also be treated to a guided tour of the Palace with presenter Gethin Jones.

In a special Blue Peter Book Club, 20 book club members will join writer Anthony Horowitz at the Palace.

There will be several other events throughout this year to celebrate The Queen's birthday and a wide range of programmes across the 大象传媒:

All key events will be covered by the 大象传媒, including the Family Service of Thanksgiving on St George's Day from St George's Chapel, Windsor and the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, London on Thursday 15 June.
