Radio Scotland takes Hearts drama to final whistle
A comedy-drama from 大象传媒 Radio Scotland for St Valentine's Day about an obsessive Hearts supporter is going into extra time.
听
The final recording of King of Hearts will be held back until the last minute so the latest twists and turns in the real-life drama at Tynecastle can be included.
听
Writer Colin MacDonald is a Hibernian supporter whose credits include Casualty, Heartbeat and Blue Murder, a TV film starring Caroline Quentin which is currently in production.
听
Colin is on standby along with the cast, led by Paul Young, to complete the drama just before transmission at 11.00am on Tuesday 14 February.
听
The events of a colourful season for Hearts are being woven into the storyline about Tynecastle fan Tam Fraser who is swindled out of his savings - just before he has to pay for his daughter's wedding.
听
In desperation he asks Hibernian fan Charlie Donaldson to help him out.
听
The offer of financial support is made, but it comes at a high price for a die-hard Hearts follower...
听
Jeff Zycinski, Head of Radio, 大象传媒 Scotland, said: "King of Hearts is typical of the new spirit of collaboration we have at Radio Scotland.
听
"This idea came from our sports team and was seized on enthusiastically by our drama producers.
听
"We know there's been an enormous interest in what's happened at Tynecastle this year - both on the field and in the boardroom.
听
"But as we've seen, the Hearts story is one that tends to move fast... that's why we have all the actors on stand-by to re-record scenes right up the the moment of transmission.
听
"We have one actor prepared to perform live on the day if need be.
听
"But apart from all that, it's a great story, a love story but very funny. Just right for St Valentine's Day."

Writer Colin MacDonald said: "I am a Hibernian season ticket holder so I know all about the pain of supporting your club through difficult times.
听
"Although I am a Hibs supporter and this is a comedy drama, the main character Tam, a barber from Gorgie Road, is treated with respect.
听
"In the course of trying to salvage his daughter's wedding plans he has to go through an ordeal which would be awful for any obsessive football fan."
