大象传媒 Wales programmes and services have received an unprecedented 44 nominations for the Bafta Cymru Awards 2005.

Doctor Who - which is made by 大象传媒 Wales - leads the way, being shortlisted in 14 separate categories including Best Actor and Best Actress nominations for Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper.

大象传媒 Wales' drama department picks up a further five nominations for its 大象传媒 network production, Dad, starring Richard Briers.

大象传媒 Wales factual programmes receive a total of ten nominations, six of them for the documentary series Tribe.

The producer of Tribe, Steve Robinson, finds himself in the peculiar situation of competing against himself for the Best Documentary Programme award.

Tribe will compete for that award against Ellen MacArthur: Taking on the World and Iolo Williams Flying with Kites - two other programmes produced by Steve Robinson.

大象传媒 Wales has been shortlisted for comedy, music and animated programmes while four new media projects have also been nominated.

Menna Richards, Controller, 大象传媒 Wales, says: "It shows the strength of 大象传媒 Wales' investment in programming to see so many 大象传媒 Wales productions in English and in Welsh nominated across so many genres.

"Being shortlisted for a Bafta Cymru award is an achievement in itself and all the nominees deserve our congratulations."

The Bafta Cymru awards evening will take place at the Cardiff International Arena on Saturday 22 April 2006.
