大象传媒 Wales' Bafta Cymru success



大象传媒 Wales has enjoyed another year of phenomenal success at the Bafta Cymru awards, the industry awards for television and film in Wales, which were held at Cardiff International Arena on Saturday (22 April 2006).

大象传媒 Wales programmes went home with 18 Bafta Cymru awards at the ceremony which was hosted by Sian Williams and Rhodri Ogwen Williams.

The main winner of the evening was 大象传媒 Wales' Doctor Who which was awarded five accolades - for Best Drama Series, Best Director of Drama, Best Director of Photography, Best Costume and Best Make Up.

Swansea-born lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who, Russell T Davies, was awarded the prestigious Si芒n Phillips Award - given to a Welshman or woman who has made an outstanding contribution to either a feature film or network television programme.

Also flying the flag for 大象传媒 Wales drama was Dad which scooped awards for Best Design and Best Screenwriter.

大象传媒 Wales' Factual department was also flying high on the night. Documentary series Tribe scooped three awards with Bruce Parry taking home the accolade for Best On-Screen Presenter, with awards also being given for Best Director and Best Graphics/Titles.

Flying with Kites made the grade in the Best Documentary and Best Camera: Not Drama categories, with the Gwyn Alf Williams Award going to Gwynfor: Yr Aelod Dros Gymru.

Another category in which 大象传媒 Wales took the laurels was in the Best New Media Not TV or Film Related, with Dance Mat Typing beating off the stiff competition. And the Best Animation went to Colin and Cumberland.

Other 大象传媒 Wales winners on the night were Y Clwb Rygbi in the Best Live/OB Team category, Jonathan in the Best Light Entertainment Category and World Religions taking home the accolade in the Best Children's Programme category.

Clare Hudson, Head of Programmes (English) at 大象传媒 Wales, said: "Our success in the year's Bafta Cymru awards is a reflection of the great range of extraordinary talent and skill of the people who make programmes for 大象传媒 Wales.

"It's great to see so much inspirational work, across craft, production, and presentation - in Welsh and English - recognised by Bafta.

"And we are thrilled that the spectacular contribution made by Russell T Davies to television over the past few years has won him such a very special award.

"This is wonderful news for 大象传媒 Wales and many congratulations to all those who won."
