The 大象传媒's Statements of Programme Policy (SoPPs) are published online today.
听
The statements detail, service by service, how the 大象传媒 will deliver its public service remit across its portfolio over the year ahead.
听
The priorities outlined for 2006/2007 reflect what audiences have said they want from the 大象传媒.
听
Mark Thompson, 大象传媒 Director-General, says: "The style of SoPPs has changed this year to reflect the 大象传媒's transition to new governance arrangements.
听
"However, we have yet again demonstrated our ongoing commitment to meeting audience needs and to delivering excellence and value across all our services.
听
"We will offer diverse television, radio and new media content, as well as non-broadcast services such as the orchestras.
听
"Our efforts to provide the best in information, education, and entertainment are enhanced this year with innovative services like the Creative Archive and pilots such as 大象传媒 iPlayer [subject to approval by the Board of Governors, which will include a public value test].
听
"For the first time this year we have a new public purpose: to help build digital Britain.
听
"Without exception every 大象传媒 service now provides some digital interactivity - whether podcasts or a website - designed to encourage and include everyone, and to expose us all to the benefits of the future.
听
"It is fitting, therefore, that this year's SoPPs are only available online.
听
"Regional, national and international network news bulletins - as well as rolling news on 大象传媒 News 24 - remain integral to our programme offering and will continue to deliver precise and up-to-the-minute news and information.
听
"Across our channels, programmes like Robin Hood, New Street Law and an adaptation of the novel The Line of Beauty will demonstrate our commitment to new and original drama, and several comedies from new and established UK writers will launch over the year.
听
"Successful factual output like Springwatch will return to 大象传媒 TWO, while Restoration Village will expand the concept of Restoration from single buildings to villages around the UK.
听
"We also plan to pilot, on 大象传媒 ONE (network), a new weekday evening magazine show compiled from the nations and regions of the UK - a 21st-century version of Nationwide to complement our existing core news output."

Notes to Editors
听
Under the Communications Act 2003, each public service broadcaster must produce an annual Statement identifying its commitments for delivering its public service remit in the year ahead. This is the fifth set of 大象传媒 Statements.
听
The terms under which the 大象传媒 is required to produce Statements for its public services are covered in the Revised Agreement with the Secretary of State approved by Parliament in December 2003.
听
It is the sole responsibility of the Board of Governors to monitor the 大象传媒's performance against the Statements and report their conclusions.
听
The regulatory programming quotas placed on the 大象传媒 which are monitored by Ofcom are in addition to SOPPs commitments.
听
These are measured by Ofcom on a calendar year basis and compliance reported by the external regulator.
听
The 大象传媒 Trust - replacing the 大象传媒 Board of Governors next year - will monitor the 大象传媒's performance and will publish its assessment next year.
听
The 大象传媒's accounting year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
