H from 'Steps' - real
name Ian
H Watkins - spent his 30th birthday at the 大象传媒's Radio Drama
studio in Birmingham Mailbox recording an acting role for Silver
Street, 大象传媒 Asian
Network's daily soap.
听
H plays the role of Dave, a survival skills expert who runs adventure weeks for inner city youths in the Welsh countryside.
听
Dave leads a bunch of city kids from Silver Street's
Parkside community centre through the rigours of outdoor pursuits.
The urban crew soon find that their street smart attitude hasn't
prepared them for abseiling, army assault courses, and sleeping under
the stars.
听
By the end of the week the rough edges have been knocked
off a few of them, and a long running storyline begins with the
revelation that the father of one of the lads was murdered.
听
Since leaving Steps, H has retrained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Music,
and in New York. Silver Street is his first work in radio drama.
听
As well
as discovering the particular skills of radio acting, H also had to speak
some lines in Welsh.
听
Also making a special guest appearance in this particular storyline is British Asian artist J
Skills, who will appear as himself and also mix an exclusive track for the soap.
听
H will make the first of five daily appearances in Silver Street from Monday
12 June.
