International musicians on song for Glasgow's 大象传媒 Proms in the Park

A glittering array of musicians from Sweden, Canada, London and Glasgow have been confirmed as part of the line-up for the Scottish celebrations of 大象传媒 Proms in the Park 2006.

Swedish trombone virtuoso Christian Lindberg, Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman, London conductor Robert Ziegler and the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra will come together as part of Scotland's stellar line-up for the classical music extravaganza at Glasgow Green on Saturday 9 September 2006.

And amongst the many highlights of Proms in the Park 2006, the Inverclyde Junior Choir, conducted by Palma Allen, will perform alongside the acclaimed orchestra.

The young musicians, finalists of 大象传媒 Radio 3 Choir Of The Year competition, will be at the heart of the evening's entertainment.

Hosted by Sally Magnusson and Jamie MacDougall (Caledon), the 大象传媒 Proms in the Park is now an integral part of Scotland's musical calendar and visits the city of Glasgow for the fourth year running.

Once again, the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra will take centre-stage this year conducted by the critically acclaimed Robert Ziegler. Further artists will be announced in due course.

Sally Magnusson says: "Proms in the Park is a highlight of my year - a wonderful evening of music, performance and communal fun. I mean, when else is the nation afforded such full frontal exposure to Jamie MacDougall's knees? Who can resist?"

Palma Allen, Inverclyde Junior Choir's conductor, is looking forward to the Proms in the Park experience: "It's an honour for us to be asked to represent Scotland and Inverclyde on national television and it will be an experience which we shall never forget.

"We're very excited at the prospect of singing to a large live audience in Glasgow Green and we're especially looking forward to performing with an orchestra and the soloists and taking part in the national TV link from the Albert Hall.

"We've been rehearsing very hard to learn our programme of songs and will continue with these rehearsals after the summer break. We look forward to seeing you there."

New for 2006, all five 大象传媒 Proms in the Park are event-sponsored by National Savings and Investments. The 大象传媒's Glasgow Prom in the Park is mounted in partnership with Glasgow City Council and the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.

Tickets for Glasgow's Proms in the Park are free and will be available from Saturday 1 July by calling 08700 100160. Ticket requests are limited to six per caller.

Each year, 大象传媒 Proms in the Park brings the magic of the Last Night of the Proms to more than a million people across the United Kingdom in five locations - Glasgow, Belfast, Manchester, Swansea and London.

Each location hosts a different programme of music, culminating in a live link up with London's Royal Albert Hall and other park events around the country.

Televised highlights of all five Proms in the Park will be shown as part of 大象传媒 ONE and 大象传媒 TWO's live coverage of the Last Night of the Proms.

Digital TV viewers can press the red button to access an interactive TV service for the Last Night of the Proms on 大象传媒 ONE and 大象传媒 TWO.

Local 大象传媒 Radio networks will broadcast events in Glasgow, Manchester, Swansea and Belfast.
