大象传媒 Big Screen Birmingham goes Bollywood

Bollywood is renowned for its big stars and big audiences, so what better place to showcase the talents of SAPA (School of Asian Performing Arts) than on the 大象传媒 Big Screen in Birmingham on Saturday 7 October 2006 between 1.00 and 3.00pm.

SAPA is performing an entertaining afternoon of Bollywood Masti dancing, singing and drama in conjunction with the 大象传媒 Big Screen in Chamberlain Square.

The School of Asian Performing Arts was set up in October 2004 to provide a training platform for those interested in Asian performing arts.

The drama, music and dance courses offered by the institution provide opportunities for students contemplating a career within the creative industries.

The students are required to perform a showcase of their work at the end of each term, and this performance will represent a real challenge to the talented youngsters.

The afternoon of entertainment allows the students to hone their craft in front of a live audience and to gauge the crowd's reaction to their performance.

There are more than 30 performers on the day each undertaking various performances, encompassing dance, music and acting.

Two workshops in dance and drama will take place in Chamberlain Square, where members of the public can join in the fun.

Professional and well-known names from Birmingham's music scene will also be on hand during the afternoon singing popular Bollywood songs, with the audience being invited to participate.

Geraldine McCullagh, 大象传媒 Big Screen Birmingham, says: "It's great that at 大象传媒 Big Screen Birmingham we can not only give people the opportunity to perform to an audience, but also that we can bring such a varied range of entertainment to members of the public.

"SAPA will bring life and colour to Chamberlain Square for two hours on Saturday, and I hope people passing through will get swept up in the singing and dancing and join in!"

The entertainment provided by SAPA enables people who have never experienced a Bollywood showcase the chance to see for themselves how much excitement an event like this can generate.
