Exclusive chat with Daniel Radcliffe kicks off new season of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross
Doyen of Friday night TV chat, triple Bafta-winner Jonathan Ross, returns to 大象传媒 One for a 12th season of his multi award-winning show tonight.
听
Jonathan welcomes Daniel Radcliffe to the Friday Night With Jonathan Ross sofa for his only TV
interview to talk about his metamorphosis from Harry Potter into sell-out
bare-all West End star in Equus.
听
"It's not that I want to distance myself from Harry Potter," says Daniel,
"the whole point of doing something different is to show that you can, so
hopefully it's achieved that... in any case, given this opportunity, you
would be really dumb to turn it down."
听
On preparing for on-stage nudity, he says: "There were ridiculous stories
in the papers about me doing seven hours a day in the gym... I'm not that
committed...
听
"I wasn't so much
intimidated by the part... even though I would be naked on stage and that
was scary... but by the thought of going on stage and sustaining the
energy for two-and-a-half hours."
听
Daniel confirms he will star in the remaining two Harry Potter movies: "I'm going to do all seven, I was 11 at the start and I'll be 20
by the end... I genuinely think these films have got better and better."
听
Jonathan also welcomes to the show Bafta award-winning Thandie Newton who
reveals what she thinks of Mission Impossible 2 co-star Tom Cruise: "He's
hugely enthusiastic, wants to run everywhere and tries incredibly hard to
be a decent person, that's really very admirable."
听
And on what it's like to
kiss him: "With Tom you always thought about the cameras. We kissed
passionately, and he told me why it was bad. I was squashing him, he
taught me how to pull back but still give enough, it was very clinical in
the end."
听
She also talks about her reaction to graphic scenes with Matt Dillon in
Oscar award-winning movie Crash: "In one scene they asked if I was
wearing protective underwear, I didn't understand, I was really shocked, I
wasn't prepared for that... but ultimately life can be that extreme, and
working on something that good can be so fulfilling."
听
The line-up is completed with two-time IBF and IBO Light Welterweight
Champion Ricky Hatton who talks about his battle with his weight: "I like
my food and a pint of Guinness, so I'm nicknamed Ricky Fatton."
听
And on meeting
Sylvester (Rocky) Stallone in Las Vegas: "He knew me, he said he loved my
fight when I won the world title... I was made up."
听
There's also music on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross from Damon Albarn, former Blur frontman, and Paul
Simonon, formerly of The Clash, with their new project The Good, The Bad & The Queen performing live in the studio.
听
Friday Night With Jonathan Ross is a Hotsauce TV/Open Mike production for 大象传媒 One.
