Fiona Bruce to take over Antiques Roadshow
|
大象传媒 One is pleased to announce that Fiona Bruce is to take over one of the 大象传媒's longest running factual strands, The Antiques Roadshow, when Michael Aspel steps down after the next series in spring 2008.

Peter Fincham, Controller, 大象传媒 One, says: "I'm thrilled at the prospect of Fiona Bruce taking over Antiques Roadshow when Michael Aspel steps down after a brilliant run at the end of the year. Michael's a hard act to follow, but Fiona will bring a new and fresh tone and is the perfect choice to start the next chapter in one of 大象传媒 One's longest-running success stories."
听
One of the most popular factual programmes on British television, with an average audience of just under six million, The Antiques Roadshow has a six-month presence on 大象传媒 One with 26 episodes a year coming from locations all over the country.
听
Over 500 shows have been broadcast since its inception and it has been recorded in 420 venues across the country. It often has many thousands of people turning out to meet the experts, sometimes queuing for up to five hours.
听
Only four presenters precede Fiona. They are Michael Aspel, Hugh Scully, Angela Rippon and Bruce Parker.

Fiona Bruce says: "I am thrilled to be asked to present The Antiques Roadshow. I have watched it and been a fan since I can remember. My Sunday nights are not complete without watching the programme and it is a dream come true to present it."
听
Fiona Bruce is a presenter on the 大象传媒's Ten O'Clock News and 大象传媒 One's Crimewatch.
听
She joined the 大象传媒 in 1989, when she started as a researcher on Panorama. She has worked on both 大象传媒 One and 大象传媒 Two as a reporter in Current Affairs, including on Newsnight and Panorama. She presented three series of The Antiques Show on 大象传媒 Two from 1998.
听
In 1999 she began presenting The Six O'Clock News and then The Ten O'Clock News. She has won numerous awards for journalism, including winning the TRIC presenter of the year three times.
听
Michael Aspel says: "I've really enjoyed my time on The Antiques Roadshow, travelled many thousands of miles and met some wonderful people, but now seems a good time to hang up my shoes.
听
"I've been in television for 50 years and have a very tidy mind, so it's great to finish on an anniversary and while I am feeling totally fulfilled. I have no immediate plans, but that doesn't mean I won't be back if an interesting project comes along."
