Serena Williams talks Wimbledon with Jonathan Ross
It doesn't get more eclectic than the line-up for tonight's edition of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One
Ìý
On the eve of Wimbledon 2007, two times champion Serena Williams talks about how she fought back from a lack of form to her current ranking of seven in the world: "I had injury, surgery, I never really had time to recover, it all came crashing down and I let it go for a while ... getting to be number one is easy, the hard part is staying there."
Ìý
About her fitness regime: "Venus and I are really concerned about staying fit and healthy because a lot of people aren't in America. We're over the top, we never want to become unfit, my job is to stay in shape."
Ìý
And about her favourite players in the men's game: "Nadal, he's so cute ... Federer has charisma, it's the way he walks, he swaggers."
Ìý
And she welcomes Wimbledon's decision to match men's and women's prize money for the first time this year: "It's been a long time, 30 years later than the US Open. We've come a long way [and] we deserve it. I work just as hard as Roger Federer."
Ìý
Tonight's guests also include comedy icon Russell Brand, on the eve of a new nationwide stand-up tour, who talks about his new movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall for which he had to learn to surf: "It's the same producer as Anchorman and Talladega Nights ... I got a gay crush on my surfing tutor Mike, I wanted to be like a mermaid and impress him!"
Ìý
And there's chat and performance from rock wildman and his enduring iconic band, Iggy & The Stooges.
Ìý
Iggy talks about his legendary reputation for excess: "I would go off and pick a girl up ... Ecstasy was the worst, it freaks me out now that it's so popular with young people ... I got very ill and at some point I had to go right off in another direction, I got myself all domesticated, learnt to do the Hoovering, then I was able to go back in to the band.
Ìý
"[Now it's] red Bordeaux, espresso coffee, cigars – and I love gardening, I need calming down all the time."
Ìý
And there's a rare UK performance of I Wanna Be Your Dog live in the studio.
Ìý
A HotsauceTV/Open Mike production for ´óÏó´«Ã½ One.
