Dennis Hopper talks to Graham Norton about his admiration for Blair
|
Legendary hell-raising actor Dennis Hopper and My Hero star Ardal O'Hanlon join Graham Norton for this week's penultimate edition of The Graham Norton Show on 大象传媒 Two.
听
Hopper reveals that he's an admirer of Tony Blair: "I saw Blair today. What a great speaker, if I could say goodbye like that ... boy!"
听
And he is a great friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger, California Governor, who visited Tony Blair this week: "I consider him a friend, from the Pumping Iron days, I first met him when he was going in for the casting for that picture [and now] it's unbelievable, they want to make him President, they're trying to change the law because he's foreign-born ... he's done a terrific job in California."
听
The ex-hell raiser also says that now he can't even enjoy a quiet cigar back home: "In California you just don't smoke. I was walking on the beach in Santa Monica and they told me I couldn't smoke there, a smoke-free zone even on the beach."
听
And he reminisces about the height of his excessive lifestyle: "In the last five years [before getting sober], I had half a gallon of rum a day, I took three grams of coke a day just to keep myself going. Now it's 24 years since I had a drink. I'm amazed I'm still alive!"
听
There's more chat with soul singing star Joss Stone who talks about her recent discussions with Prince William before her forthcoming appearance in this weekend's tribute concert for his mother: "I spoke to him once. I wanted to find out what he wanted me to do for the concert, the exact songs. He was really sweet, said his mum liked Tina Turner and Queen, so I'm doing them."
听
On tabloid stories about her love life, she says: "I've had so many boyfriends according to the papers but [in reality] I haven't had one this year."
听
On her new fan Tom Cruise: "He's funny, sweet, he just liked my music a lot so he invited me round to his house."
听
And why she never wears shoes: "I get too scared because I always fall over, the only time I wore shoes [to perform] my mum made me, and I stood on my own foot!"
听
Joss also performs her new single What Are We Gonna Do Now live in the studio.
