Ray Gravell reaches the top of the mountain

Ray Gravell's recovery since having his right leg amputated below the knee has been truly remarkable and on Thursday 19 July he'll be back presenting his ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cymru programme Grav in a special live broadcast from Stradey Park, Llanelli (8.30-10.30am).

Ìý

"Of all the experiences I've had acting and broadcasting on television and radio, the Grav programme is the one I enjoy most. I know that I will have reached the top of the mountain when I'm back in the presenter seat," Ray says of his morning programme which is broadcast on weekdays in south west Wales.

Ìý

"It's a real honour to present the programme – and that's no exaggeration. Work is work but this is an absolute honour. I'm so thankful to Radio Cymru for keeping the door open for me and for encouraging me without rushing anything. I can't wait to get back into it."

Ìý

This is the first programme in the Nôl yn y Canol (Back In The Centre) tour. As well as welcoming Grav back to Radio Cymru it will also be an opportunity for him to thank his loyal audience who have been such a support to him over the past few months.

Ìý

"My debt to the people of the south west is immense – I'm so thankful to them for their support. They own the programme therefore it's very apt that we're doing this tour now.

Ìý

"The first ever Grav broadcast came from Stradey Park on 1 March over three years ago so it's great we're going back there now to re-launch the programme."

Ìý

Although Ray has regularly contributed to the programme over the past few weeks, this is the first time he's been back in charge.

Ìý

Radio Cymru listeners outside of the south west area will be able to hear Ray from Stradey Park as inserts will be broadcast on Jonsi's programme.

Ìý

After Llanelli, the team will visit Merlin's in Ystradgynlais, Gili's Cafe in Llandeilo, Carmarthen market, Castle Square in Swansea and Nestletons Cafe in Ammanford.
